After the great success of the first years of the Parent Leadership Training Institute of Alexandria (PLTI), we look forward to working with our alumni and a new group of students every fall. The program will offer leadership training to 25 selected parents in Alexandria.
Not only are parents their children's first and most important teacher, they are the best advocates for children in society. Parents can speak out on issues and inform policy-makers, the media, and other parents of the needs of our families.

The Parent Leadership Training Institute will offer a stimulating program that will boost parent leadership skills to address issues of concern such as child health, quality education, and neighborhood safety. Participants will learn to become a strong voice for the next generation.

The course begins with a Saturday retreat. Classes are held on Friday evenings from 5:30-9:30 for 20 weeks. PLTI provides dinner and childcare, including a Children’s Leadership Institute.

Candidates will be selected from the pool of applicants. We will select parents who have an interest in leadership, seek to improve Alexandria for the sake of children, and are interested in learning leadership skills within a group of diverse parents.

There is no fee to you for the class. We ask for your time, commitment, and mentoring of the next classes. Please consider whether this is the right program at the right time for you.
